I just started reading about this amazing material. My understanding of how it works is quite limited, but basically, its a polymer that is soft and flexible when its moved slowly, but when moved quickly, like upon receiving an impact, it instantly stiffens and disperses the shock. The second video has some nice a nice demo of a guy getting hit in the head with a shovel.
