I just saw this today, and I’m not sure how long it’s been around, but it looks like Nike has brought back Spike Lee’s Mars Blackmon character.
A little history: Mars was a character in Spike’s first movie, She’s Gotta Have It as a potential suitor of the main character, Nola Darling. She’s Gotta Have it is a great movie, and if you haven’t seen it, please do.
In the end, he doesn’t get the girl, but Nike fell in love with him and he was featured in some of the most iconic TV commercials of the 1980′s.
I believe this is the first in the series, and its certainly one of my favorites.
These commercials take me back a few years, but sadly for Nike, don’t make me want to but expensive shoes.
Anyhow, I saw someone using their Mars photo as an avatar for Facebook and was amused enough to find Nike’s handy Become Mars flashtravaganza.
Oh, and just to set the record straight, in my case, it’s the shoes, money.
